The Virtual tour will give you an experience of how prospectors panned Gold/separated gold particles from soil in a freezing cold water by hand.
The story of Gold doesn’t get more real than descending 75 meters underground to discover the riches of South Africa’s history on an underground mine tour or witnessing the magnificent glow of a live gold pour!
You also visit the Historical Victorian homes on the ground.
The original mine manager's residence houses the authentic bioscope dedicated  to show case how life was during this fascinating period of South African history.

*Theme Park rides
Gold reef City has variety of Thrill rides you can choose from when you arrive at the park.
Popular fastest Thrill rides you can participate on: Anaconda inverted roller coaster, Golden loop shuttle roller coaster, Jozi  Express roller coaster(This coaster will move you through tree tops,mine dumps and if you are brave enough to open your eyes you will have a better view of Johannesburg CBD), Miner's. Raging, River Rage, Run away Train, Storm Chaser,High Flying Maverick,Tower of terror (High speed roller coaster with a vertical drop into the old mine shaft)

GOLD REEF CITY DESCRIPTION

Gold Reef City is located in Johannesburg South Africa. The site where Gold Reef City is situated is an old Gold mine and it has been modelled to resemble the gold rush and the gold rich history. Gold Reef City is actually a combination of a Theme Park and a Life Museum of a Victrian Architecture depicting the story of Gold. In the centre of Gold Reef City stands Shaft No 14, opened in 1887 and closed after 84 years of operation in 1971.

The area was flooded by Prospectors after the discovery of Gold in 1886. Over its 90-year lifespan the mine produced some 1.4 million kilograms of gold, blasted out of the ground by 30 000 miners. Gold reef city is one of Johannesburg most popular attractions for Tourists and locals alike.

 

PLEASE NOTE:
1.Visitors cannot bring food in the park Gold reef City has a variety of restaurants serving  A larte lunch, and food oulets serving fast foods you can access for lunch.
2.You  have an OPTION to do the mine tour  and exclude rides or vise versa
3.Thrill rides have 1.3meters height restrictions and some  minor rides have  restrictions for children.
4.Guests with the below health conditions cannot do the underground tour:
  *Expectant mothers
  *Asmatic individuals and individuals with heart problems.
  * Visually impaired individuals/individuals with other health challenges like walking defects or have prosthetic limb/s 
  * Individuals who have recently had a surgery.
  * Claustrophobic individuals
  * Individuals with uncontrolled blood pressure and diabetics.
